This is a showroom space for Ming Dynasty Suzhou style furniture mahogany furniture. As one of the representatives of the inheritance of traditional Chinese furniture, mahogany furniture does not need nails or glue in terms of structure. It is composed of tenon and tenon, which not only has the function of controlling the deformation and shrinkage of wood, but also has the effect of durability. Among them, mortise and tenon as an architectural technique is also widely used in traditional wooden buildings.
The original building is narrow and long, and the longitudinal structural columns divide this long and narrow space into two. In order to respond to the structure of mahogany furniture, taking the tenon and tenon as inspiration, using the form of the structure and combining the needs of exhibition, we extended the core display area longitudinally along the central axis of the space.
02 . 分割与链接 Segmentation and Linking
On the top surface, by setting false beams with the same width as the column, the original three scattered structural columns are connected into one, so as to achieve visual horizontal and vertical stretching.
On the ground floor, we set a raised platform to echo the secondary structure of the top surface. At the same time, it can meet the display of single products such as armchairs, strip cases, flower stands and so on.
The secondary structure of the false beam, the functional partition wall, and the original structure are interspersed, connected, arranged, and separated from a certain scale to achieve the progressive and change of the spatial level.
03 . 过渡与边界 Transitions and Boundaries
Affected by the narrow and long space, we avoided the back-shaped amusement park moving line, and adopted the parallel 1-shaped double passages, which were progressive. While ensuring rich circulation, it can maximize the satisfaction of display needs. Different spaces display corresponding products according to the gradual moving line relationship. Detail optimization of the top and façade can be achieved to be connected to each other but independent of each other.
04 . 光影与色彩 Light and Color
The crosses on the wall opening and closing, the vertical slats and the vertical walls and structures that are separated from the top, all these light and shadows inadvertently generated are the carefully set space poetry.
Compared with the rich and heavy mahogany color, white is the most elegant and expansive. Empty is also not empty, all the concessions are to make the mahogany furniture itself the protagonist of the space.
