The project locates in Wanhao Square of Jiaqing. There are two spaces in the ground floor along with the street, and there are total two layers in the internal part. It is an architectural space whose function has been redefined. It is defined to be a growth center for 0-3 years old infants with the education idea of Montessori. When the function is clarified, the design method is also clear. However, as the first growth space for children in their life, we hope the internal space could provide much more perception for children, so as to leave a fantastic atmosphere for children to have experience. Hope they could experience in the physical space slowly in the stage of outward exploration.
日常与梦幻 Daily and Fantasy
Infants are in a stage of pre-school. The growth in this period is mainly shown in the daily behavior, and it is an acquired behavior and a senior neural activity based on the conditional reflection. Based on the acquisition of the experience, it should begin from daily and fantasy in the spatial processing. We hope to build up much more behavior spaces, including bubble game area, book reading area, stair climbing area, star experience room and ladder classroom. In the ladder classroom, we make the stage and audience area together to become a sky with fantasy, so that children could feel another color in the sky.
边界的感知 Perception of Boundary
Malevich has said in his book, Non-objective World, that “the visual phenomenon in the objective world is unsignificant while the meaningful thing should be feeling, so the feeling should be aroused when separating with the environment. Enlightened by supremacy, we hope to create much more perception in physical world, so we make the simplest arc, triangle, square and other geometric control as the boundary of the space. The shape of these simple form has been confirmed and we hope to trigger a special and interesting sense of experience when experiencing.
渗透的空间 Penetrating Space
We hope there would be communication chances formed by different spaces in the whole project. The relationship between indoor and outdoor would be blurred by inserting an outward curved glass box between ground floor and streets, so as to form a penetration of two spaces. On the other side, a table for pedestrians to rest and sit down is built on the facade along the street, so as to create an opportunity of communication through the permeability of glass. In the internal part, there is a square hole left in the wall of the closed ladder classroom to observe the ladder climbing in the opposite. There is a half-curved window between the star experience room in second floor and the stair landing in one side; then, there would be expectant communication status when children sit on the windowsill. Through such little behaviors, the two spaces would be penetrated mutually to make a meaningless behavior to be a more interesting daily experience.
