Seven Market: Reconstructing Market Aesthetics and Creating a New Neighborhood Landmark
项目坐落于北京东北三环,周边是成熟的商业社区,紧邻北京国际展览馆老馆。既有建筑为家乐福超市,家乐福退出后,留下一栋老旧二层建筑,方正但封闭,我们期待以这一空间为契机,突破传统菜市场的固有范式,通过复合业态、开放场景与细腻的体验设计,重构城市中人与物、人与人、人与生活的联结。以食物为媒介,我们试图呈现的是寻常日子里,生活蒸蒸日上的美好模样。
Located on the northeast Third Ring Road in Beijing, the project is surrounded by a mature commercial community and adjacent to the old Beijing International Exhibition Center. The original building was a Carrefour supermarket. After Carrefour’s closure, it left behind an old, square, but enclosed two-story building. We hope to use this space as an opportunity to break through the traditional paradigm of a wet market, and through a combination of business formats, open spaces, and meticulous experiential design, reconstruct the connections between people and things, people and people, and people and life in the city. Using food as a medium, we attempt to present the beautiful picture of a thriving life in ordinary days.

一、设计概念:从“交易空间”到“生活方案”
Design Concept: From “Transaction Space” to “Lifestyle Solution”
面对近8000㎡占地面积的既有建筑,我们首要思考的是如何超越单纯的“卖菜”功能,将其升级成一个能承载多元生活场景的空间。设计以“逛与留”为核心体验。
Faced with an existing building covering nearly 8,000 square meters, our primary consideration was how to transcend its simple function of “selling vegetables” and upgrade it into a space capable of accommodating diverse lifestyle scenarios. The design centers on the core experience of “browsing and lingering.”

与常见的以绿色、原木色为主调的菜市场设计不同,柒号市集大胆采用工业风语言,探索市集空间的多元美学可能性,以全新的色彩风格进行表达。我们希望通过更具视觉冲击力的材质与色彩组合,为城市注入一抹鲜活亮色,重塑大众对“菜场”空间的想象边界。
Unlike typical wet market designs that primarily feature green and natural wood tones, Seven Market boldly adopts an industrial aesthetic, exploring the diverse aesthetic possibilities of market spaces and expressing itself through a fresh color palette. We hope to inject a vibrant touch into the city and reshape the public’s imagination of “wet market” spaces by using more visually impactful material and color combinations.

二、建筑改造:打破封闭
Architectural Renovation: Breaking Down Barriers
1 立体交通与屋顶利用:针对周边停车难的问题,我们将二层屋顶改造为停车场,并通过单向盘旋车道组织流线,在解决功能需求的同时,也创造了独特的抵达体验。新增的两部直梯与两部扶梯,不仅实现了无障碍通达,其直梯出口处的“星空”设计,仿佛走进浩瀚的宇宙,更将垂直交通节点转化为具有记忆点的仪式空间。
Vertical Transportation and Rooftop Utilization: To address the parking difficulties in the surrounding area, we transformed the rooftop into a parking area and organized the flow of traffic through a one-way spiral driveway. This not only solved functional needs but also created a unique arrival experience. The two newly added elevators and two escalators not only achieved barrier-free access but also featured a “starry sky” design at the elevator exits, evoking the feeling of stepping into the vast universe and transforming the vertical transportation node into a memorable ceremonial space.

2 界面打开与光的引入:既有建筑立面开窗极少,整个建筑显得压抑和沉闷。我们通过在楼顶停车场与二层之间扶梯植入透明阳光房、以及墙体开洞打造出一系列弧形黑铁框窗洞,这些窗户不仅是光的入口,更成为了工业美学的生动体现,为整个市集增添了一份时尚与个性。
The opening of the facade and the introduction of light: The original building had very few windows, making the whole building feel oppressive and dull. We created a series of arched black iron-framed windows by inserting a transparent sunroom into the escalator between the rooftop parking lot and the second floor, and by openings in the walls. These windows are not only the entrances to light, but also a vivid embodiment of industrial aesthetics, adding a touch of fashion and personality to the entire market.

3 动态立面与社区连接:建筑东北侧整面墙被改造为一面完整的异形LED彩屏,其视觉内容可伴随季节、节日或市集主题灵活变换,成为社区生活中一面“会呼吸的数字橱窗”。一层临街面则通过结构加固与立面开洞,植入连续的底商单元,形成通透的“城市摊位”界面。这一设计消解了建筑与街道的物理边界,将市集内的鲜活气息自然渗透至街区。
Dynamic facade connects with the community: The entire northeast wall of the building has been transformed into a single, irregularly shaped LED screen. Its visual content can flexibly change according to the seasons, festivals, or market themes, becoming a “breathing digital showcase” in community life. The ground floor street-facing facade, through structural reinforcement and facade openings, incorporates continuous ground-floor commercial units, forming a transparent “urban stall” interface. This design dissolves the physical boundary between the building and the street, naturally permeating the vibrant atmosphere of the market into the neighborhood.

三、室内空间叙事:烟火气与松弛感的共生
Interior spatial narrative: the symbiosis of everyday life and relaxation
1 一层:市井温度的“岛台”设计:生鲜与熟食区采用开放式岛台布局,让顾客与摊主能够面对面交流,重现了旧式柜台服务中的人情温度。5米宽的主通道确保了通行的宽敞与舒适,即使是拉小推车或乘坐轮椅也能从容游逛。
First Floor: The “Island Counter” Design Reflects the Warmth of the Market: The fresh produce and cooked food areas feature an open island counter layout, allowing customers and vendors to interact face-to-face, recreating the human touch of traditional counter service. A 5-meter-wide main aisle ensures spacious and comfortable passage, allowing even those with trolleys or wheelchairs to navigate with ease.
市场中间还有一家咖啡馆,是设计的点睛之笔——咖啡的醇香与蔬果的清冽、面包的暖甜交织在一起,重新定义了“菜市场气味”,也象征着品质生活与日常烟火的无缝融合。
In the center of the market is a café, a design highlight—the rich aroma of coffee intertwines with the crispness of fruits and vegetables and the warm sweetness of bread, redefining the “smell of the market” and symbolizing the seamless integration of quality living and everyday life.

2 二楼以特色堂食区域为核心,汇聚了各地风味小吃与现制快餐炒菜,营造出轻松愉悦的聚餐氛围。这里不仅是家庭周末用餐、朋友闲暇小聚的延伸场景,更通过“即买即食、食罢再逛”的循环动线,巧妙拉长了人们在场所中的停留时间。
The second floor centers around a distinctive dine-in area, bringing together local delicacies and freshly prepared fast food and stir-fries, creating a relaxed and enjoyable dining atmosphere. It’s not only an extension of the venue for family weekend meals and casual gatherings with friends, but also cleverly extends the time people spend there through a “buy and eat immediately, then browse again” circulation system.

四、材料与细节:工业美学的温情表达
Materials and Details: A Warm Expression of Industrial Aesthetics
在材料与视觉语言的构建上,我们始终围绕工业美学展开叙事,建筑外围选用红砖与黑色弧形铁窗组合,赋予立面鲜明的识别度。室内以整体灰色调为基底,通道上方“7”字形光标识如一道轻盈的印记,落于地面,功能与象征兼具。
In constructing the materials and visual language, we consistently revolved around the narrative of industrial aesthetics. The exterior of the building uses a combination of red brick and black arched iron windows, giving the facade a distinctive look. The interior uses an overall gray tone as its base, with a “7”-shaped light sign above the passageway acting as a light imprint on the ground, combining function and symbolism.
摊位系统采用黑色金属网格吊楣,其通透的形态与立面窗框相呼应,亦保持视觉的呼吸感。入口处以做铜板做旧的名称标识与导视系统,则进一步丰富了材质的叙事性。
The stall system uses black metal mesh lintels, their transparent form echoing the window frames on the facade, maintaining a sense of visual breathability. The nameplates and wayfinding system at the entrance, finished with an antique copper plate, further enrich the narrative of the materials.

结语:Epilogue
这里售卖的不仅是食材,更是一种“可逛、可尝、可聚”的完整生活解决方案。它让平凡的日常采买,变成一段充满发现与愉悦的微旅程,让建筑本身,成为滋养社区生活、记录城市生长的一片温暖土壤。
In conclusion, this place sells more than just ingredients; it offers a complete lifestyle solution that allows you to browse, taste, and gather. It transforms ordinary daily shopping into a mini-journey filled with discovery and joy, and makes the building itself a warm and nurturing environment that sustains community life and records the city’s growth.
